Mankind's
most basic needs can be met with EcoGenics© technologies. Shelter
is among the top three basic needs, the other two being food and water.
Based on a panelized structural system developed by EcoGenics in 1970,
(with over eighty examples built) the EcoShelter is a culmination of extensive
research and development. (click
for pictures) The basic configuration chosen for the EcoShelter© is a hexagon with a central supporting column and compression ring to which are attached long span joists which are supported at the perimeter with weather proof columns. The wall footing is excavated to a depth below the frost line. This depth varies with the geographic location but a minimum of eighteen inches is recommended. This excavation creates a thermal break with the surrounding terrain. A curtain wall system consisting of six inch thick (R48) tongue and groove curtain wall panels are then erected and sealed in place to the supporting columns and roof with expanding foam.
